Two Account Types, One Starting Point
Our View Royal property at 1708 Old Island Highway in the Greater Victoria area of British Columbia is part of the broader Great Canadian Entertainment network. Account creation is handled centrally for all of our sites, so the way things work here is aligned with the rest of our destinations.
Before you start anything, it helps to know that there are two different account types. A Great Canadian Rewards membership is built for loyalty: collecting points, playing cardless, checking balances and adjusting your profile. A Player Gaming Account is something else - it is a deposit account used for higher-volume play, and it must be opened with at least CAD 2,000. Picking the right one at the beginning usually avoids extra steps later.
Setting Up a Great Canadian Rewards Account
You can complete a Great Canadian Rewards registration online or in person at Guest Services. Most guests find the online route quicker, especially if your identification and a phone with a working camera are already nearby.
The online registration flow looks roughly like this:
- Open gcrewards.com/signup in your usual browser, on desktop or mobile.
- Keep a valid government-issued photo ID beside you - a driver’s licence or a passport is fine.
- Enter your details exactly as they appear on your ID: full legal name, date of birth, and your contact information.
- When the system asks you to, complete the identity verification step using your phone camera.
- Create your member account number and PIN. These credentials are what you use for cardless play at slot machines and electronic table games.
- Confirm your new membership using the link or code we send to your mobile phone or your email.
- Sign in at gcrewards.com/login or through the Great Canadian Rewards app to reach your member portal.
You must be at least 19 years old to register. Guests who are self-excluded or banned from Great Canadian destinations are not eligible to open or hold an account. Because the View Royal property is in British Columbia, in-person registration at Guest Services is still a common starting point for local guests, while some Ontario locations handle the on-site process a little differently.
| Registration Method | Where | Requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Online | gcrewards.com/signup | Photo ID, mobile phone with camera, age 19+ |
| In-Person | Guest Services at participating destinations | Valid government-issued photo ID, age 19+ |
Once your membership is active, you can log in at gcrewards.com/login to see your points, review your rewards activity, and adjust basic account settings. The mobile app mirrors this functionality, which is helpful if you prefer to manage everything from your phone while you are on the move.
A small practical note that applies not only here but to almost any digital account setup: during the ID verification, stand or sit in good lighting and wipe the camera lens first. It sounds very basic, yet that simple step can prevent most verification delays.
Opening a Player Gaming Account
The Player Gaming Account is handled differently. It is not available through online sign-up - you must visit a participating Great Canadian destination in person for this type of account, and there are no remote alternatives.
At Guest Services, the process usually unfolds as follows:
- Present a valid government-issued photo ID as your main piece of identification.
- Provide a secondary form of ID as requested in the application.
- Supply your current job title, which is included in the standard application information.
- Decide how you want to make your initial deposit: bank draft, certified cheque, Interac e-Transfer or wire transfer, all in Canadian dollars.
- For bank drafts or certified cheques, ensure they are issued in your legal name and endorsed to Great Canadian Gaming Corporation.
- Confirm the total amount you want to deposit. The minimum opening balance is CAD 2,000 and the maximum is CAD 1,500,000.
- Wait for Guest Services to process the details and then receive confirmation that your account has been opened.
We do not charge a service fee to open a Player Gaming Account. Regardless of the method you choose, every transaction is processed in Canadian dollars.
| Deposit Method | Currency | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Bank Draft | CAD | Made in legal name, endorsed to Great Canadian Gaming Corporation |
| Certified Cheque | CAD | Same endorsement requirements as bank draft |
| Interac e-Transfer | CAD | Standard Canadian e-Transfer process |
| Wire Transfer | CAD | Canadian dollars only |
This account is managed by Great Canadian Gaming Corporation as a front-money account. That means your funds are held by the corporation and then drawn down during play at participating properties. It is separate from your loyalty account and works on different terms, which is part of the reason we only set it up in person.
